HOW TO PERFORM CHASSIS NUMBER (CHASSIS NO.) WRITING FOR ENGINE-ECU, ETACS-ECU, KOS&OSS-ECU AND ELECTRIC STEERING LOCK

The chassis number is described on the engine-ECU, the ETACS-ECU <vehicles without Keyless Operation System (KOS)>, the KOS&OSS-ECU <vehicles with Keyless Operation System (KOS)> and electric steering lock <vehicles with Keyless Operation System (KOS)>. If the chassis number is improperly erased, the engine warning lamp, the keyless operation system warning indicator or the immobiliser warning lamp is illuminated, and the diagnosis code is displayed. When any of these ECUs is replaced, register the chassis number according to the following procedures.

note Perform the variant coding of the engine-ECU when the chassis No. or the vehicle identification number is registered to the engine-ECU.

CHASSIS NO. WRITING STEPS FOR KOS&OSS-ECU AND ELECTRIC STEERING LOCK

caution
  • When KOS&OSS-ECU is replaced, all the registrations that need to be performed at KOS&OSS-ECU replacement must be completed before the registration of KOS&OSS-ECU and electric steering lock.
  • Be sure to check that diagnosis code No.B1157 EEPROM fail and No.B1155 EEPROM fail (ESL) are not set. If diagnosis code No.B1157 "EEPROM fail" and No.B1155 "EEPROM fail (ESL)" are set, the chassis number cannot be stored in memory even when it is written. Therefore, when these diagnosis codes are set, be sure to carry out the troubleshooting first to repair the trouble, and then write the chassis number to KOS&OSS-ECU or electric steering lock.
note Regardless of which of KOS&OSS-ECU or electric steering lock is replaced, the registration can be performed by executing the same menu selection (Even when both KOS&OSS-ECU and electric steering lock were replaced as a set, they can be registered by performing the registration process only once).
