ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN AT MAIN BATTERY WATER INTRUSION

If the main battery is immersed in water due to vehicle submersion, take actions according to the steps below.
1.

Never fill the seawater to avoid the danger of short. If seawater enters into the main battery pack, fill the fresh water in continuous jet to replace the water inside the battery pack.

From the main battery cooling duct found under the front passenger's seat, fill the water (such as tap water, well water, and pond water containing no salt) into the main battery until water overflows.
2.After filling the water, soak for approximately 72 hours. During that time, hydrogen is electrolytically generated from water in the battery. Therefore, store the vehicle in outdoors where the ventilation is good.
3.Remove the front floor covers A and B. (Refer to GROUP 51 - Under Cover

Because dissolved metal may be contained in the discharged water, appropriately process the water as industrial waste.

Remove the work hole lid at the main battery underside to discharge the water.

To the markings located at the front end of main battery underside (five positions in the vehicle front), make holes using a drill of Φ10 mm or less to discharge the water.

Remove the battery tray (D) crossmember assembly located at the rear end of main battery underside (M6 bolts × 4).

Because dissolved metal may be contained in the discharged water, appropriately process the water as industrial waste.

To the markings located at the rear end of main battery underside (five positions in the vehicle rear), make holes using a drill of Φ10 mm or less to discharge the water.
8.Dispose of the main battery (using the same procedure as for the normal battery).
