Be sure to pull up by grasping the area A of the transmission
control cable. Do not pull up by holding the area B as damage may result.

Set the selector lever to the N position, and use a flat-tipped screwdriver to disengage
the claw. Then, lift the transmission control cable upward.
|

2.Insert the flat-tipped screwdriver into the section indicated with an arrow, and pry the
screwdriver to remove the inner cable end.

If the rubber bushing of inner cable end remains on the selector lever side, remove the
rubber bushing, and then install it to the inner cable end.
|
|

|
Move the safety lock to the direction of arrow, and then simultaneously press in both
ends of the lock piece.
|

Insert a flat-tipped screwdriver to the section shown in the figure, and press to disengage
the claw. Then, lift the transmission control cable upward.
|

2.Widen the clip to disengage from the control lever (main) side, and then remove the cable
end.
|

| caution |
In the cases below, replace the transmission control cable with a new one.
- Cable is pulled toward the vehicle front, and the bonding of positioning
protector on the cable is peeled, and the protector is displaced as a result.
- Cable clip is damaged.
- Deformation occurs to the cable.
|
|

|
Tighten until the selector lever knob bottom face comes to 18 mm from the indicator panel
upper face.
|

|
1.Release the shift lock while pushing the shift lock cam to the direction of arrow, and
set the selector lever to the N position. 2.Fit the new lock piece into the tip of transmission control cable. (Reusing of lock
piece is not allowed.)

| caution |
- When inserting the transmission control cable into the selector
lever bracket, do not excessively pull the cable toward the vehicle interior.
- Be sure to press the area A of transmission control cable indicated in the figure.
Do not press the area B as damage may result.
|
After inserting the transmission control cable tip (lock piece is in upper side and unlocked)
into the lever pin, insert the outer cable socket into the selector lever bracket until it clicks
into place. Then, check that the claw is engaged with the square hole of selector lever bracket.

Distance between inner cable end centre and selector lever bracket outer face is approximately
130 mm.

4.Check that the selector lever is in the N position, and then fix the lock piece at
transmission control cable tip according to the steps below. (1)
Move the safety lock to the direction of arrow to free up the lock piece. (2)
Insert a flat-tipped screwdriver or a similar tool into the position shown in the figure.
Press the rod tip to the direction of arrow, and remove the longitudinal play of inner cable
end by pressing toward the vehicle rear. (3)

- Do not move the cable end to the axial direction.
- In order to prevent the displacement of N position, do not touch the selector lever.
|
|
Press in the lock piece, and fix the inner cable end. (4)

| caution |
Be sure to check that the rear end of safety lock is securely engaged with the lock piece
upper face.
|
|
Move the safety lock to the direction of arrow once again to fix the lock piece.
|

|
5.Check that the positioning protector flange of transmission control cable is fitted into
the cable cover tip.
|

| caution |
Do not adjust the set length of transmission control cable by loosening the lock nuts
at the both ends of rod assembly.
|
|

|
1.Hook the new clip into the groove found at the tip of transmission control cable. 2.Insert the plate rod (width: approx. 8 mm; plate thickness: approx. 0.5 mm) into the
gap between the clip and transmission control cable tip. While turning the rod for 90 degrees,
fit the spring into the groove found on the opposite side. 3.Set the control lever (main) to the N position.

4.Insert the inner cable end into the pin of control lever (main).

After inserting the transmission control cable tip into the pin of control lever (main),
insert it into the cable bracket until it clicks into place. Then, check that the claw is engaged
with the square hole of cable bracket.

Distance between inner cable end centre and outer face of cable bracket is approximately
130 mm.
|
|

|
1.After routing the transmission control cable to the vehicle interior, fix the cable while
hooking the cable cover tip onto the positioning protector.
|

|
2.Align the positioning protector flange with the cable cover tip.
