Use the front hub &
flange yoke holder (special tool: MB990767) to fix the hub as
shown in the figure, and remove the lock nut.

|
1.Remove the caliper assembly with the brake hose still connected.
|
|
|
2.Tie the removed caliper assembly with a wire at a position where it will not interfere
with the removal and installation of hub knuckle assembly.
|

- Loosen the self locking
nut (tie-rod end connection) from the ball joint, but do not remove here. Use the special tool.
- To prevent the special tool from dropping off, suspend it with a rope.

Install the ball joint remover (special tool: MB991897 or MB9920 11) as shown in the figure.
|

2.Turn the bolt and knob to adjust the tool jaws are parallel each other. Then, tighten
the bolt by hand, and check again that the jaws are still parallel.

While adjusting the special tool jaws to be parallel, face the knob in the direction shown.

3.Turn the bolt, and disengage the connection of ball joint.

Use the following special tools to press-fit the hub cap.
- Installer cap (MD998812)
- Installer 100 (MD998813)
- Installer adapter (MD998824)

1.Assemble the lock washer to the direction shown in the figure.
|

2.Using the front hub &
flange yoke holder (special tool: MB990767), tighten the
lock nut. Tighten it to the lower limit of specified torque in order to align the pin holes. Tightening torque: 144 to 176 N·m 3.If the pin holes are not aligned, retighten up to 176 N·m. Set the split
pin into the first aligned hole, and bend the split pin.
