DISASSEMBLY SERVICE POINTS



<<A>> TIE ROD REMOVAL



1.Turn up the bellows, and pull out the rack bar to the direction of the arrow.

2.
caution To avoid damaging the rack bar, do not tighten the vice excessively.
To prevent the rack bar flaw, hold it to the vice, using a cloth.
3.Use the variable spanner (special tool: MB992249) to remove the tie rod.

ASSEMBLY SERVICE POINTS



>>A<< TIE ROD INSTALLATION



1.
caution To avoid damaging the rack bar, do not tighten the vice excessively.
To prevent the rack bar flaw, hold it to the vice, using a cloth.
2.Use the variable spanner (special tool: MB992249) to tighten the tie rod to the specified torque.
Standard value: 69 ± 9 N·m

>>B<< WIRE CLAMP INSTALLATION



1.To the mounting groove of bellows, wind the wire clamp twice. Then, use a screwdriver or similar tool to tighten the wire end with a force of approximately 98 N.

2.While lifting the wire upward, twist the wire for 3 to 3.5 times, then bend the wire to the steering gear centre side.

Screw in the tie-rod to the length shown in the figure, and hand-tighten the locking nut.

note Install the steering gear & linkage to the body, adjust the toe-in, and then tighten the locking nut to the specified torque.
