REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS

1.Use the ornament remover (special tool: MB990784) to remove the steering wheel lower cover.

Disconnect the connector while sliding the part A shown in the figure to the direction of the arrow.

caution

Never use an electric tester to diagnose the air bag module circuit. Never attempt to disassemble the air bag module.
Be sure to store the removed airbag module in a clean and dry place with a pad surface facing upward.

1.Set the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.

2.As shown in the figure, use the steering wheel puller (special tool: MB990803) to remove the steering wheel assembly.

After aligning the centre position of the clock spring (Refer to GROUP 52B - Air Bag Module and Clock Spring

), and install the steering wheel assembly.

Connect the connector securely and route the harnesses not to lie off the cover hole.
