Malfunction of the electric motor switch power supply system

caution

Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

When the power supply system of electric motor switch has a problem, none of the equipment and system connected to the electric motor switch works even if the electric motor switch is operated.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

Malfunction of the electric motor switch
Malfunction of the fuse No.3
Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: B-202 electric motor switch connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 2

	Repair the defective connector.

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at electric motor switch connector B-202 in order to check the battery circuit of power supply system to the electric motor switch.

(1)Disconnect the electric motor switch connector B-202 and measure the voltage at electric motor switch connector B-202 harness side.

(2)Measure the voltage between terminal 1 and earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 5

	Go to Step 3

STEP 3. Check the fuse No.3.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 4

	Replace the fuse No.3. (Check that there is not a short to earth in the circuit of lower reaches before replacing. If there are any problems, replace the fuse after the circuit of lower reaches is repaired.)

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness from electric motor switch connector B-202 (terminal No.1) and fuse No.3.

Check the battery power supply line for open circuit.

Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check junction block connector B-302 and B-308, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 6

	Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check the electric motor switch.

Refer to

Q. Is the electric motor switch in good condition?

	Go to Step 6

	Replace the electric motor switch.

STEP 6. Retest the system.

Q. Do the device and the system work normally when the electric motor switch is operated?

	The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

	Replace the ETACS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to Immobilizer system - On-vehicles service ).
