Inspection Procedure 1: The front and rear room lamp do not illuminate normally.

caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

The ETACS-ECU operates the front room lamps and the rear room lamps in accordance with the following input signals.

If this function does not work normally, the input signal circuits from these components, the ETACS-ECU or the CAN bus lines may have a problem. Also, it may be possible that the room lamp delayed-off time is set to "0 second" through customisation or the security alarm is armed.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics

Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ).

STEP 2. Check ETACS customisation function

Use the customisation function of the ETACS to check that the room lamp delayed-off time is set to other than 0 second.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Use the customisation function of the ETACS to set the room lamp delayed-off time to other than 0 second. (Refer to .)

STEP 3. Check whether the diagnosis code is set.

Check if the ETACS-ECU sets a diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Diagnose ETACS-ECU (Refer to ETACS-ECU, Troubleshooting ).
Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. M.U.T.-III data list

Use the ETACS-ECU service data to check the signals related to the operation of front room lamp.

  • Move the electric motor switch to the LOCK (OFF) position.
  • Pull out the key from the electric motor switch
  • Open each door.
  • Open the tailgate.

STEP 5. Connector check: B-304 ETACS-ECU connector, C-05 rear room lamp connector, C-07 intermediate connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness from C-07 intermediate connector terminal No. 16 to B-304 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 20.

note Before checking the wiring harness, check B-301 junction block connecotor and B-05, B-06 joint connectors, and repair them if necessary.

  • Check the input line for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness from C-05 rear room lamp connector terminal No. 2 to B-304 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 18.

note Before the wiring harness check, check the B-301 junction block connector and C-07 intermediate connector, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the output lines for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Retest the system.

Check that the front and rear room lamps illuminate and extinguish normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to ).
