Inspection Procedure 2: One of the licence plate lamps does not illuminate.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If any of the licence lamps does not illuminate normally, wiring harness, connector(s) or the bulb may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Malfunction of the lamp bulb
Malfunction of the bulb socket
Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: F-03 (RH) or F-07 (LH) licence plate lamp connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 2.

	Repair the defective connector.

STEP 2. Bulb check

Check the bulb(s) of the licence plate lamp that does not illuminate.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 3.

	Replace the bulb(s) of the licence plate lamp that does not illuminate.

STEP 3. Resistance measurement at F-03 (RH) or F-07 (LH) licence plate lamp connector

(1)Disconnect the connector and measure at the wiring harness side.

(2)Measure resistance between F-03 (RH) or F-07 (LH) licence plate lamp connector terminal No. 1, which does not illuminate, and body earth
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 6.

	Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Connector check: C-08 intermediate connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 5.

	Repair the defective connector.

STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between F-03 (RH) or F-07 (LH) licence plate lamp connector terminal No. 1 and C-08 intermediate connector terminal No. 20.

Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 6.

	Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness between F-03 (RH) or F-07 (LH) licence plate lamp connector terminal No. 2 and C-08 intermediate connector terminal No. 14.

Check the power supply line for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 7.

	Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Retest the system.

Check that the licence plate lamp illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	YES) : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

	Replace the socket of the defective licence plate lamp.
