Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

The ETACS-ECU operates this function in accordance with the input signals below.

Electric motor switch (IG1)
Driver’s door switch
Passenger’s door switch
Rear door switch
Tailgate latch switch
Vehicle speed signal

If this function does not work normally, these input signal circuit(s) or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Malfunction of the driver’s door switch
Malfunction of the passenger’s door switch
Malfunction of the rear door switch
Malfunction of the tailgate latch switch
Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check of adjustment details for the door ajar warning buzzer function

Check that the door ajar warning buzzer is set to either "Operation" or "Constantly" using the customise function of M.U.T-III.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2

Using the customise function of M.U.T-III, set the door ajar warning buzzer to either "Operation" or "Constantly."

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics

Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3

Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting

). On completion, go to Step 5.

STEP 3. Check the diagnosis code of the ETACS-ECU or ASC-ECU.

Check if the diagnosis code is set in either of the ETACS-ECU or ASC-ECU.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Diagnose the ETACS-ECU or ASC-ECU (Refer to

<ETACS-ECU> or GROUP 35C - Troubleshooting

<ASC-ECU>). On completion, go to Step 5.

STEP 4. M.U.T.-III data list

Check the input signals below, which are related to the door ajar warning buzzer function.

Turn the electric motor switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Open any door or tailgate.

: Go to Step 5

NO <The door switch signal is not received.> : Refer to inspection procedure 7 "One of the door switch signals is not received

NO <The electric motor switch (IG1) signal is not received.> : Refer to inspection procedure 2 "The electric motor switch (ON) signal is not received

."

NO <The vehicle speed signal is not received.> : Go to vehicle speed signal troubleshooting.

NO <The M.U.T.-II does not show the respective normal condition for item "BUZZER."> : Replace the ETACS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to

)."

STEP 5. Retest the system.

Check that the door ajar warning buzzer works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?
