Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

The ETACS-ECU operates this function in accordance with the input signals below.

Electric motor switch (ON)
Driver’s seat belt switch
Passenger’s seat belt switch
Vehicle speed signal

If this function does not work normally, these input signal circuit(s), the ETACS-ECU or combination meter may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
Malfunction of the driver’s seat belt switch
Malfunction of the passenger’s seat belt switch
Malfunction of the combination meter
Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics

Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2

Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting

). On completion, go to Step 4.

STEP 2. Check the diagnosis code of the ETACS-ECU or ASC-ECU.

Check if the diagnosis code is set in either of the ETACS-ECU or ASC-ECU.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Diagnose the ETACS-ECU or ASC-ECU (Refer to

<ETACS-ECU> or GROUP 35C - Troubleshooting

<ASC-ECU>). On completion, go to Step 4.

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III data list

Check the input signals below, which are related to the seat belt warning buzzer function.

Turn the electric motor switch to the "ON" position.
Remove the each inserted seatbelt.

NO <The seat belt switch signal is not received.> : Refer to inspection procedure 10 "The seat belt switch signal is not received

STEP 4. M.U.T.-III other system actuator test

Conduct the actuator test to check the seatbelt indicator.

Go to Step 5.

Replace the combination meter.

STEP 5. Retest the system.

Check that the seat belt reminder works normally.
