Code No. P00B3:
Coolant temperature sensor (short to earth) Code No. P00B4: Coolant temperature sensor
(open circuit)
WATER TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT
OPERATION
The 5-V power is supplied from EV-ECU to the coolant temperature sensor, then the MCU coolant
temperature is converted to the voltage and output to the EV-ECU.
DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS
If the coolant temperature sensor output voltage of 0.2
V or less continues, diagnosis code No. P00B3 will be set.
If the coolant temperature sensor output voltage of 4.6 V or more continues, the diagnosis
code No. P00B4 will be set.
PROBABLE CAUSES
Damaged wiring harness or connector(s)
Malfunction of the coolant temperature sensor
Malfunction of the EV-ECU
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Voltage measurement at E-04 coolant temperature
sensor connector
(1)Disconnect the E-04 coolant temperature sensor connector, and measure the voltage
at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the electric motor switch to the "ON" position.
(3)Measure the power supply voltage between the E-04 coolant temperature sensor connector
terminal No. 1 and the body earth. OK: 4.5 to 4.9 V
