The power to the shift position switch (main)/(sub) is supplied from the EV-ECU,
and the shift position is set to the EV-ECU.
DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS
If all the shift position switches (main) and shift position
switches (sub) for the P-position to C-position are kept to OFF for 3 seconds or longer, the
diagnosis code No. P0705 will be set.
note
The operation of the shift such as slow operation or forcible fixing at the position
other than the shift position may set the diagnosis code.
PROBABLE CAUSES
Damaged wiring harness or connector(s)
Improper installation of the shift control cable
Improper installation adjustment of the shift position switch (main) and shift position
switch (sub)
Malfunction of the shift position switch (main) and shift position switch (sub)
Malfunction of the EV-ECU
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Measure the voltage at E-10 shift position switch (main)
and E-02 shift position switch (sub) connector.
(1)Disconnect the E-10 shift position switch (main) and E-02 shift position switch
(sub) connectors and measure the voltage at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the electric motor switch to the ON position.
(3)Measure the voltage between the E-10 shift position switch (main), E-02 shift position
switch (sub) connector terminal No. 4 and the body earth. OK: Battery voltage
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 2.
STEP 2. Connector check: E-10 shift position switch (main) connector,
E-02 shift position switch (sub) connector, C-110 EV-ECU connector
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the damaged connector.
STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between C-110 EV-ECU connector terminal
No. 88, 89 and E-10 shift position switch (main) connector terminal No. 4, E-02 shift position switch
(sub) connector terminal No. 4.
Check the power supply line for open circuit.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the wiring harness.

Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
GROUP 22A - Shift Position Switch Adjustment (Refer to .)
STEP 5. Shift position switch (main), (sub) installation check
Using an adjustment plate for the shift position switch, check that the slit of the manual
control shaft aligns with the positioning groove of the shift position switch. (Refer to GROUP
22A - Shift Position Switch Adjustment .)
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Remove and install the transmission control cable (selector lever side). (Refer
to GROUP 22A - Transmission Control Removal and Installation .)
Then go to Step 6.
GROUP 22A - Shift Position Switch Adjustment (Refer to .)
Then go to Step 7.
STEP 6. Shift position switch (main), (sub) continuity check
GROUP 22A - Shift Position Switch Continuity Check (Refer to .)
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Replace the shift position switch (main) or the shift position switch (sub).
STEP 7. Diagnosis code recheck
Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the EV-ECU.
(1)Erase the stored diagnosis code.
(2)Set the electric motor switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
(3)Check if the diagnosis code is set.
Q.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the EV-ECU. (Refer to .) Then go to
Step 8.
The diagnosis is complete.
STEP 8. Diagnosis code recheck
Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the EV-ECU.
(1)Erase the stored diagnosis code.
(2)Set the electric motor switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
