If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines,
an incorrect diagnosis code may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, always diagnose the CAN bus lines.
QUICK CHARGING CONTROL SYSTEM CIRCUIT
OPERATION
The quick charger communicates with EV-ECU via the local
CAN (for the quick charger).
BMU communicates with EV-ECU via CAN.
DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS
If the difference between the main battery current received
from the BMU and the present output current received from the quick charger is higher than the
specified value for 5 seconds or longer, the diagnosis code No. P1AFC will be set.
PROBABLE CAUSES
Malfunction of wiring harness and connectors (Local CAN
(for quick charger))
Malfunction of quick charger
Malfunction of the BMU
Malfunction of the main battery
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnosis
Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the CAN bus line. (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting .)
Then go to Step 2.
STEP 2. Diagnosis code recheck after resetting CAN bus lines
Check again if the diagnosis code No. P1AFC is set to the EV-ECU.
(1)Erase the stored diagnosis code.
(2)Set the electric motor switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.
(3)Check if the diagnosis code is set.
Q.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Go to Step 3.
This diagnosis is complete.
STEP 3. Current sensor check
Check the current sensor (refer to ).
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 7.
STEP 4. Measure the local CAN (for quick charger) terminator resistor.
(1)C-111 Disconnect the EV-ECU connector, and measure the resistance at the wiring
harness side.
(2)Connect the quick charger.
(3)Measure the resistance between terminal No. 101 and No. 102. OK: 120±20 Ω
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 5.
STEP 5. Check the local CAN (for quick charger) bus connector: G-10
quick charger connector, C-111 EV-ECU connector
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Repair the damaged connector.
STEP 6. Check the local CAN (for quick charger) bus line between the
G-10 quick charging connection terminal No. 8, 9 and C-111 EV-ECU connector terminal No. 101,
102.
Check the signal lines for short to earth or open circuit.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Check the quick charger. Then go to Step 9.
Repair the wiring harness.
STEP 7. Diagnosis code recheck
Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the EV-ECU.
(1)Erase the stored diagnosis code.
(2)Set the electric motor switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.
(3)Check if the diagnosis code is set.
Q.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the BMU. (Refer to .) Then go to
Step 8.
The diagnosis is complete.
STEP 8.
Replace the main battery. (Refer to .) Then
go to Step 9.
The diagnosis is complete.
STEP 9. Diagnosis code recheck
Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the EV-ECU.
(1)Erase the stored diagnosis code.
(2)Set the electric motor switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.
