TROUBLE JUDGMENT

Check Conditions
  • 3 seconds elapse after the electric motor switch is turned ON, or 3 seconds elapse after the main battery starts to be charged.
  • The following diagnosis code is not set.

    1. U1082: Local CAN (for main battery) bus off
Judgement Criterion
  • For more than 3 seconds, the signal cannot be received from one of CMUs through the CAN communication.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION

  • Not available

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • The module (CMU) in the main battery is failed.
  • The harnesses and the connectors of the local CAN (for main battery) bus.
  • Short circuits to earth of CMU power supply circuits; poor contact of connector.
  • The BMU is failed.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: C-22 main battery connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2 .
Repair it. Then go to Step 13 .

STEP 2. Perform voltage measurement at C-22 main battery connector

  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Electric motor switch: ON
  • Voltage between terminal No. 4 and earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4 .
Go to Step 3 .

STEP 3. Connector check: A-08X EV control relay connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Check intermediate connectors B-27, C-102 and C-112, and repair if necessary. If intermediate connectors are normal, check and repair harness between A-08X (terminal No. 1) EV control relay connector and C-22 (terminal No. 4) main battery connector.

    • Check power supply line for open/short circuit.
Repair it. Then go to Step 13 .

STEP 4. Connector check: A-08X EV control relay connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5 .
Repair or replace the connector, go to Step 13 .

STEP 5. Check harness between A-08X (terminal No. 1) EV control relay connector and C-22 (terminal No. 4) main battery connector

note Before checking harness, check intermediate connectors B-27, C-102 and C-112, and repair if necessary.

  • Check power supply line for damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6 .
Repair the damaged harness wire, go to Step 13 .

STEP 6. Connector check: C-26 main battery connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7 .
Repair it. Then go to Step 13 .

STEP 7. Check the local CAN (for main battery) terminating resistance itself

  • Check the local CAN (for main battery) terminating resistance itself (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8 .
Replace the main battery. Then go to Step 13 .

STEP 8. Connector check: C-109 BMU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9 .
Repair it. Then go to Step 13 .

STEP 9. Check harness between C-26 (terminal No. 10) main battery connector and C-109 (terminal No. 38) BMU connector

  • Check signal line for open circuit, short circuit to earth, short circuit to power supply system and damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10 .
Repair it. Then go to Step 13 .

STEP 10. Check harness between C-26 (terminal No. 5) main battery connector and C-109 (terminal No. 37) BMU connector

  • Check signal line for open circuit, short circuit to earth, short circuit to power supply system and damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11 .
Repair it. Then go to Step 13 .

STEP 11. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Reconfirm whether the diagnosis codes are set from BMU.

  1. Erase the diagnosis codes being set.
  2. Electric motor switch: "LOCK" (OFF) → ON
  3. Confirm whether the diagnosis codes are set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Go to Step 12 .
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).

STEP 12. After replacing the main battery, reconfirm the diagnosis code.

After replacing the main battery, reconfirm whether the diagnosis codes are set from BMU.

  1. Erase the diagnosis codes being set.
  2. Electric motor switch: "LOCK" (OFF) → ON
  3. Confirm whether the diagnosis codes are set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the BMU. Then go to Step 13 .
Go to Step 13 .

STEP 13. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Reconfirm whether the diagnosis codes are set from BMU.

  1. Erase the diagnosis codes being set.
  2. Electric motor switch: "LOCK" (OFF) → ON
  3. Confirm whether the diagnosis codes are set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Go to Step 1 .
Check end.
